 Who We Are

Jordan Red Crescent
The Jordan Red Crescent (JRC) was established on 27 December 1947, recognised by the ICRC in 1948 and admitted to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in 1950. It has its own legislation No 3 for the year 1969 is an independent organisation and its statutes were approved by the General Assembly in 1970. It is committed to follow its Mission Statement

“To alleviate the suffering of the victims and the vulnerable of natural disasters and armed conflicts and to protect their dignity and rights in a manner that preserves their lives, safety, security and well being.”

As a member of the International Movement the mandate of the JRC is to meet and comply with the established principles and aims of the Movement which include adhering to and upholding the seven Fundamental Principles on which the Movement is founded: Humanity, Neutrality, Independence, Unity, Voluntary Service, Impartiality and Universality.

The Society focuses on Strategy 2010 of the Movement - emergency preparedness, emergency response, promotion of humanitarian values, healthcare and social services. The National Society enables the principles of the Movement to be upheld through other projects aimed at empowering Jordanian society through the development of community-based projects.
